The past few months have brought about a lot of change. Life routines have been shattered. Quarantine and COVID-19 have created ripples that will change lives forever. In response, for King & Country released their newest single, (and music video, gasp!) TOGETHER.
TOGETHER shines light into the darkness. The song speaks to the lows of life, countering it with the hope of second chances and new opportunities. It also reminds us that we are not alone in our struggles. One way Together does this is through its construction. It explores the lows of life, exclaiming, “Sing it for the can’t-go-back… / Sing it for the just found out / Life is now upside down,” yet balances it with the idea that you are seen. You are seen in your struggle, because we all fight for something.
“If you’re in the fight of your life / I can promise / We’re gonna make it happen, yeah / I will be by your side / I got you, my brother… / I see you my sister / And when we rise, we will rise together.”
And one of the ways we will make it through is if we walk side by side. We need to walk side by side. In supporting one another we will come out stronger. And not just from the pandemic we face now. But every fight we face. When there are others around us to lend an ear, a shoulder, a helping hand, we can overcome.
